Hey there!
As the author of Reggie Rat and Friends, I believe that meeting a real-life author can have a profound impact on children, sparking their curiosity, creativity, and love for books. Author visits provide a unique opportunity for children to engage with stories in a more personal way, making reading and storytelling feel even more magical.
Having an author visit isn’t just about hearing a story; it's about bringing books to life! Children can ask questions, learn about the writing process, and even get inspired to create their own stories. These interactions foster a deeper appreciation for reading and open the door to exciting new adventures in their imaginations.
Through my visits, I love sharing the world of Reggie Rat and Friends, introducing the characters, and encouraging young readers to explore their own creativity. Whether it’s discussing how a story comes to life, talking about the fun of illustrating, or even acting out scenes with the children, these experiences create lasting memories that can ignite a lifelong love of reading.
Bringing an author into the classroom or event setting is a wonderful way to make books more than just words on a page; it makes them an experience to be enjoyed, shared, and remembered!
What to Expect During the Visit!
1. Exciting Colouring Competition!
Before my visit, children will have the opportunity to take part in a special colouring competition to spark their enthusiasm for Reggie Rat and Friends! The winning entry will be handpicked by me, and the lucky winner will receive a free book of their choice during my visit. The colouring sheets will be sent to my contact for printing and distribution to all children.
2. Exclusive Pre-Order Opportunity!
Parents will have the chance to pre-order books ahead of the visit. Each book will be personally signed by me. The order form will be emailed to my contact for printing and distribution. Payments will be collected in cash and checked by me on the day of the visit.
3. A Special Gift for Every Child!
Every child will receive a free Reggie Rat bookmark featuring one of the beloved characters from the series.
The Talk – An Inspiring Author Experience!
1. The Story Behind Reggie Rat!
I’ll take the children on a journey back to 1904, sharing the fascinating origins of Reggie Rat and how his world came to life.
2. My Journey as an Author!
How did I become a children's book author? I’ll share my personal story and how the Reggie Rat and Friends series became a success.
3. Meet Reggie Rat and His Friends!
Through A4 laminated illustrations, I’ll introduce all the wonderful characters that bring the stories to life.
4. Get Up Close with the Books!
I’ll bring copies of all my published books for the children to explore.
5. Storytime!
I’ll read one of my stories to the class, bringing the adventure to life.
6. Interactive Q&A Session!
A chance for children to ask questions about writing, illustrating, and the world of Reggie Rat!
7. A Creative Challenge!
I’ll inspire the children to become storytellers! They will be invited to create their own Reggie Rat themed adventure. One lucky winner will have their story published in a future book—the book will also be dedicated to them!
8. Behind the Scenes – The Editing Process!
For older children, I’ll discuss the editing side of book publishing, offering a glimpse into what it takes to turn a story into a finished book.
Visit Details
Each session lasts approximately 30 minutes per class. I can visit one, two, or three classes in a day (maximum three), provided they run back-to-back, three is recommended, Class R - Class 1 - Class 2. Fee: £100 per visit
